I’ve been reading with much interest another masterful miniature blog. It has been promising for what feels like weeks, but is probably only days to write about the future of games day. Well I’ve waited so long I thought I would do what most writers do.. Just make stuff up.
G,man and I both have tickets for games day uk and it looks like it’s going to be a very different event. The biggest change is there are going to be a lot lot less people there. The number of tickets has been reduced from 8000 to only 4000, however the size of the venue has been reduced from 2 large and 1 small hall to only 1 arena. This squashing in of people is less of concern given there have only been 2500 tickets sold so far.
Of course this isn’t the first time GamesDay has been held at the NIA. The last time it was there forge world was a very different business, which only made a handful of products. Given the trade stand had been given it’s own hall last year it will be interesting to see how the annual forge world world queue translates into the NIA even if there are only 3000 people standing in it this year.
In theory this extra £5 I paid for my ticket will give me twice as much time talking with the design and painting teams, twice as much time to take photo’s of the new forge world models. Twice as long to look at the displays, on hand. Oh hang on I’ve made a school boy error, twice as many people only gives me twice as long with the designers if I take the time out from doing something else. Maybe I’ll go to forge world next weekend so I don’t have to relate another account of standing in the forge world queue for over an hour and wasting a good proportion of the time I have at games day.
See you there if you are. I’ll be geek wearing the funny T-shirt oh wait that will be all of us, ok I’ll be the guy in the ring wraith suit.
There has been very little reported back from Games Day Memphis. At last pictures and video’s are starting to surface. Here is some footage of armies on parade from IndRevelations. See if you can spot the Rogue Trader Terminator Sergeant?
Pins of war have posted some photos of US Golden Demon entries. While non of these made the finals they are certainly worthy of a 1+.
I’ve included 3 40k related pictures below. A Chaos Space Marine based on a Warrior of Chaos, a Seeker of Slanesh and a Space Marine Diorama which uses one of the new Chapter Master kits as well as on of the old wounded Space Marines. There are more entries from Warhammer Fantasy on pinsofwar

Forge World have brought plenty to US Games Day. The Storm Eagle variant has stollen the show for many, even though it was only a photo (below). There is also what appears to be a heresy landraider with multimelta on the sponsors also visible in the background of this photo.
It appears robots are making a return to 40k. Now called Automatas Robots were used in the great crusade. This may hint the Forge World are looking at going even further into the 40k history. or that there are traitor legions who have decided to return to using outlawed A.I.
Magus Dominus
There is also going to be a new tank half way between a Landraider and Predator call a Sicaran Battle Tank. Presumable this counts as a more heavily armoured Predator.
Iron hands Contemptor
Sons of Horus Command Squad
Assault Squad with Power weapons
