Battle Pictures – Grey Knights and Black Harlequins vs Chaos and Imperial Forces

This game represented the Grey Knights attempting to overturn and Chaos rising in the outskirts of an imperial city.

A Harlequin troop is helping the Gray Knights for reasons unknown.

The Chaos forces consist of, World Bearers Chaos Space Marines, Pre Hersey Emperors Children, Traitor Guard and a sole Renagade Imperial Knight.

The game was a 4000 point Battle. The mission was based on the old 6 objective apocalypse senario, however objective victory points where score at the end of each trun. The team with most victory points cumulated at the games’ time limit wins.

Deployment, Most of the Grey Knights arrived by deep strike

Turn one

The Grey Knights and Harlequins take 4 objectives via deep strike. The Chaos forces hold 2 objectives.

Turn two

The renegade Imperial Knight removes a squad of Harlequins from one of the objectives to contest the objective with the Harlequin jetbikes.

The game ends 7-4 to the Grey Knights and Harlequins.

Golden Demon 2014 Diaroma

Diarima category is just as imaginative as the Duel category. In many respect’s the Duel’s big brother. Sometimes leaving the adversaries up to your imagination. This first picture below leaves nothing but the size of the Tyranid Hoard up for debate.

Fort Pain, Tau, Warhammer World

An End to Fort Pain at Warhammer World

During the building works at Warhammer World, Fort Pain has been retired. It is currently unknown if the board is set to return. While being one of the few boards featured in Games Workshop publications it was not the most popular. While it looks great it is not the most balanced or level board. It is great for a game of siege the castle and one of the few ways many people can afford to play on the Forge World Fortress, but not good for a balanced game of 40k. Some general relish this prospect.

I was able to play a game on the board with Ben’s Space Wolves against Gareth Tau and another mystery army. Here are some pictures from my one experiences of Pain!

Golden Demon 2014 – 40k Single Miniature

Here are all of the 40k Single Miniature entries I was able to get pictures of. As I’ve already stated the standard was amazing this year.  While I had improved my own Golden Demon entry I could completely understand why it didn’t make the finals, maybe next year. There is a lot on the model I wasn’t happy with. I was glad non of the Krom Dragongaze mini’s won (Never enter your 1st idea). Most of the models below didn’t even make the finals.

Apart from it being a bit crowded getting to the cabinets the atmosphere was far nicer this year. In fact I think this was the most enjoyable and cheapest Golden Demon I can remember. There was no freebies for entering and only a certificate for making the finals this year. I guess that will keep out the rubbish next year.  It was noticeable some of the better painters had not entered this year although other’s had come from across Europe. Last years winner managed 3rd and I didn’t see Painting Buddha either, although the evidence of his DVDs and you tube videos was everywhere. Some of the old crowd that had turned up, looked a little disappointed the community hadn’t turned out in force. I think there were around 300 tickets remaining.  Living fairly locally, I’m not sure if the location was a big put off for many this year. The venue was far nicer, Here’s hoping for the the ICC next year (just wishful thinking, nothing more.)

Bane Blades Eight Years On

Well here we are trying to find our feet or even work out what rule set we are playing with. With the community welcoming the rules that are 7th edition, but not the frequency of a 100 week rules cycle and confused about how unbound armies and other rules are going to pan out. I thought I’d role back the clock, not just two years but 8 years. I would rather go back 10 years, but it’s very hard to work out what was going on in the later days of 3rd edition. Given the lack of 40k websites running at the time.

So what was happening back in June 2006?
It was rumours and early pictures of the BaneBlade. It’s hard to imaging a game of Apocalyse without one of these bad boys now. How has the BaneBlade survived? Compared to other kits released back in 2006 it’s done rather well. It’s still a mean mother to shift and still puts out a ton of firepower. Considering it’s modest points value I think these bad boys are a worthy entry for the citadel hall of fame. It’s probably time I added a Guard contingent to my own Imperial Force.
