Rumours: Tyranids have eaten the Sisters of Battle.

This is one of those off the wall comments that starts a rumour.

“From Slacker on Bell of lost Souls

Did anyone else notice there are no Sisters on the poster? (edit: in December’s White Dwarf) Maybe the Tyranids ate them all too …(edit:reference to the fate of the Squats)”

Well it’s irresponsible of me to spread such a conversational and unfounded rumour, so I’ll point out their absence on the poster could also mean the whole range is about to get re-released or that Games Workshop don’t want to push any completely metal armies, or that the Sisters of Battle marketing budget doesn’t cover the cost of the space. What ever the reason it’s a shame they were absent.

Nonsense: Will Squats return?

I would normally title this rumours and it part it is, but as this rumour is that something won’t happen….

Anyway today this was posted on the net

via Unforgiven from the Faeit 212 inbox
I’ve heard some info about squats and why they will never return. Not sure if this has been posted before, but the chap who came up with the squats fell out with games workshop and took the license with him, telling GW they can never use it again. There is another wargame who has the squat models in but I don’t recall the name.

Sorry to all the people who want squats back, but I’ve been told it will never happen in 40k 🙁

This is possible within UK law and is a big part of Chapterhouse studios defence for the minture lines they make.

According to Wikipedia

(Jervis) Johnson said the race was removed from the Warhammer 40,000 universe for the following reasons:

  • The designers felt that they “had failed to do the Dwarf ‘archetype’ justice in its 40K incarnation”, and that the Squats were more of a joke race.
  • There existed a design disparity with the Warhammer 40,000 and the Epic-scale renditions of the race, which prevented there being a cohesive vision of the race.
  • Despite the efforts of the design team, they were unable to think up ways to revitalize the concept.[2]

and

Sixth edition makes mention of them[3] in a list of abhumans, marking their restoration to the fictional universe of Warhammer 40,000.[4]

So is it true, maybe does it mean there will never be 40k Dwarfs? One word Demuirg.

Today’s Rumour: Orks

via Stickmonkey in the Bols Lounge
Rumor is the battle wagon is getting reboxed, and will include the deffrolla sprue. ETA 2013. Price rise expected.

I’m hearing an ork wave with buggies/trax, new battle wagon box (old battlewagon with deffrolla incl), tank bustas/flashgitz plastics, and deffcoptas.
This is in contention for Q2 model wave release.

Rumours: The Dark Angel Chaplain in Dark Vengeance wasn’t Limited edition ?!?

Yes you’ve read that right. Rumour has it that only thing that was Limited edition about the limited edition box set of Dark Vengeance was the box!

I did hear the chaplain fron DV would be available as a clampack but no idea when.

I have heard both the DVish interrogator Chaplin and Radagast will be available after May and June of 2013 respectively.

It was rather odd for Games Workshop to make a limited edition plastic model. Can you name another? Just like the Wall of Martyrs was a limited edition box with plastic’s kits that would be available separately with it. It’s rumour the plastic Chaplin will resurface next year. I guess it’s going to hit as part of a 2nd wave of Dark Angels releases.  I imagine those who only bought the Limited box set just to get this model are not going to be happy. I haven’t gone back and studded the wording in white dwarf, but I’ll leave you with the wording from White Dwarf Daily.

“The first thing you’ll notice about the Dark Vengeance boxed game is that it is Limited Edition. This is because it includes an exclusive model – a Dark Angels Interrogator Chaplain that will only be available in the first production run of the game”
