I recently picked up an old Space Marine with terminator honours on a well know auction site. I though I’d see how it fairs with the modern Stern Guard Veterans. I’ve used those wearing older suits of armour to represent an early post Horus Heresy Space Marine Squad.

Tau Ultramarine Battle

I managed to get in a game against Tau at the weekend. Rather than write a full battle report I’m going to post a few pictures with some explanation every day this week. So here goes.

We rolled a diagonal deployment and Mission 2: Kill points. Each enemy unit killed awards 1 victory point. There are also victory points for first blood, kill the warlord and line breaker.

Ultramarine Deployment: I made a defensive line using my Devastators, armed with 2 las cannons and 2 missile launchers and a Tactical squad armed with a las cannon. The tactical squad would also be firing the Quad gun.  I placed a tactical squad armed with a multi melta and a flamer on the flank. Behind the tactical squad I placed a bike squad armed with a Multi-melta and Melta gun and a Landspeeder armed with a Multi Melta and flamer. My scouts armed with a heavy bolter use infiltrate to advance to the ruins.

My plan was to advance towards the Tau using the bikes speeder and tactical squad. I held a Storm Raven, Tactical squad in drop pod, Captain with jump pack and two assault squad in reserve. Intending to reinforce the flank attack.

Tau Deployment: A firewarrior and path finder squad deployed in the centre of the Board. The Tau Riptide deployed behind the trees and two broad side teams deployed around the ruins. The rest of the Tau force,  a path finders team, 2 fire warrior teams, a Crisis team and a Hamerhead were placed in reserve to re-enforce the line where required.

Today’s Picture Long Fangs

You can already find these picture on the Space wolves page, I’m gradually migrating all the squads in to the category section of the site.

I try to mix armour types and weapons with my Space Wolves reasoning they don’t care as long as it works. One of the long fangs has a Forge World Heresy style Missile luncher. Three of these Long fangs use the original metal Devastator squad legs. I believe these are meant to enhance the power armours ability to carry large weapons.  This armour upgrade still appear in the drawings within the Space Marine codex although G.W. don’t currently sell them. The heavy bolter is my favourite model in this squad. I think the combination of the targeting eye and old legs works really well.

Pictures: Marneus Calgar (work in progress)

ChapterMasters.com is getting closer to having a ChapterMaster. Here of some photo’s of the Metal Calgar model I’ve been repainting. I found this model on ebay with a basic paint job and thought I could give it some love. Unfortunately I didn’t spot the missing sword so may end up selling it and buying another one.

I’ve tried some false reflections on the armour. The golds and cape are not finished.
