Horus Heresy Weekend 2015 – Warhammer World Building Works Continue

IMG_0512.PNG

Forgeworld have announced the dates for the 2015 Horus Heresy Weekender. The event consists of new release and developments from Forge Worlds Horus Heresy department. Traditionally pictures of unreleased models are show along with future art work and books. Large groups of grown men will also go along and spent £100s of pounds on resins models, to the delight of their wife’s and girlfriends (if they are fortunate enough to have them). This event will probably herald the release of Horus Heresy book 4 and feature new rules and models for Ultramarines, World Bearer, Imperial Fist and Iron Warriors or the Cult Machanicas. They may also be a new Forge World display board with armies not yet covered by the Horus Heresy books.

The event is being held at Nottingham Belfry Hotel. This is probably a good indication the Building works at Warhammer World will continue into February .

Duel

Golden Demon 2014 – Duel Warhammer Fest

Golden Demon Duel

The Golden Demon Duel always provides some interesting and some times funny entires. This years winning entry Beauty and the Best was no exception. The winning entries were off for judging when i got to the Duel cabinet, so I don’t think I have photo’s of any.

Fist up we have Forge World’s Fist Captain Ezekyle Abaddon of the Son’s of Horus vs Former Tenth Captain Garviel Loken of the Lunar Wolves.

This World Eaters Comtemptor Dreadnought clearly packs a punch. The Blood Angle’s contempt or looks to have met it’s match.

The Battle of Calth Pictures from Warhammer Fest 2014

The battle of Calth in pictures from Warhammer Fest 2014. The battle of Calth was the ultimate betrayal of the Emporer’s grand scheme. Friend turned on friend, battle brother on battle brother. The Word Bearers planed methodically to catch the Ultramarines off guard. Expecting assistance, instead the Ultramarines were out numbered at outgunned. whole Chapters of Ultramarines were wiped out before they knew what was happening. A small Ultramarine force mounted a resistance against unbeatable odds.

These pictures below were taken at Warhammer Fest 2014. This was by far the most popular display by Forgeworld and possibly the highlight of the event.

Golden Demon 2014 at Warhammer Fest – Ben’s coolest Demons

These are Bens Pick for his favourite entires at Golden Demon. Rather than looking at painting quality Ben has been looking purely at the colour scheme and overall look. He did only had my pictures to go on, so sorry if I didn’t take a picture of your model; and after all Ben’s opinion won’t get you into White Dwarf.

If you are wondering about the Red and Green stickers on the entry cards. The Green Sticker denote an entry which is being considered as a finalist and goes through to the next round. The red sticker is an entry which has been photographed and may therefore appear in Warhammer Visions, White Dwarf or on the Games Workshop website in White Dwarf daily.

While the number of entries was lower this year the quality was possible even higher.

I’ve seen some very negative feedback on other sites about Warahammer Fest and while the Games Workshop studio was totally out done by Forgeworld, I thoroughly enjoyed the whole event.
As Golden Demon isn’t running on the Saturday, Games Workshop management need to give some more thought to what takes pace in it’s void; If they run the same formate next year and expect people to attend both days, while I would have been happy to have a reason to do. It was also very disappointing the Studio didn’t bring along a couple of display boards from their impressive collection and a few more of their senior staff.
But those were the only down points and really not that big a deal. The venue was better, the space given to none sale activities was bigger, the lighting at Golden Demon was better, the parking was better, more content was provided. All in all it was a great day out and I can’t wait for next year to roll around.
