Games Day US 2013 Forge World News and Pictures

Forge World have brought plenty to US Games Day. The Storm Eagle variant has stollen the  show for many, even though it was only a photo (below). There is also what appears to be a heresy landraider with multimelta on the sponsors also visible in the background of this photo.

It appears robots are making a return to 40k. Now called Automatas Robots were used in the great crusade. This may hint the Forge World are looking at going even further into the 40k history. or that there are traitor legions who have decided to return to using outlawed A.I.

There is also going to be a new tank half way between a Landraider and Predator call a Sicaran Battle Tank. Presumable this counts as a more heavily armoured Predator.

Games Day USA 2013 News: Forge World Space Marine Fire Raptor

Loken has posted pictures of was is reported to be a new Space Marine Flyer. Intended to be an interceptor gun ship the Fire Raptor is strongly based on the Storm Eagle. It has been equipped with an Avenger Canon and two twin linked Heavy Bolters. The current estimate is it will be available in January 2014.

Games Day 2013 Limited Edition Miniture: Marco Columbo

For some people the limited edition miniature is a big part of the decision process in going to Games Day.

Well the wait is over and 40k players can run back into the safety of there bunkers. My prediction that we would get a Black Templer space Marine from the cover of the 4th edition box set was well off base. We have no other than a 2nd Limited edition Marco Columbo.

Marco

Obviously the Christopher Columbus of the Warhammer fantasy world. Little Marco found the lizard men, stole all their gold, upset their gods, was curse by the rulers of the lizard realm and swore to be killed on pain of their own death; and so started the unprovoked attacked of the Empire world by the lizard men. Chuck him in a pot of hot water for 3 hours so say we.

But don’t despair, there is still Forge Worlds miniature to be announced. Hopefully they will come up with another space marine to join the ranks of other limited edtions models we all have sat in boxes from previous years.

Sorry I’m clearly just sore about getting it wrong.

Black Legion Codex Confirmed in August White Dwarf

Black Leagion

I was concerned it was going to be an non 40k month, but by an ironic twist of fate the Black Legion have rescued us! A Codex Chaos Marine Black Legion supplement is confirmed to be in the August White Dwarf as a digital only release.

Codex Chaos Marine Black Legion contents

  • Definitive Black Legion Background
  • Detailed Black Legion Timeline with all major historical battles and events
  • Additional rules for a Black Crusade. It’s not known if this is a campaign or for all battles with the Black Leigion)
  • Miniatures Showcase
  • Reference for Black Leigion special rules and Wargear

While it’s unlikely this news will stop White Dwarf being infested with Lizards, this Chapter Master has never been so pleased to hear the Black Legion are coming.

News on Sisters of Battle from Enter the Citidel

There was a lot of noise about Sisters of Battle at Enter the Citadel. There’s some good news and some bad news.

Sisters of battle news

The following was reported by a number of sources

According to Jervis Johnson “Every army (including Sisters of Battle) is getting worked on and will be updated in time.”

According to Phil Kelly, the reason why they never got plastic minis was because they couldn’t be plastic moulded by the current process. He also mentioned that there are 3 Citadel Designers who have full SoB armies as their main army. GW don’t intend to remove support for models that they have made

According to Jes Godwin. The sisters, like MkVIII power armour can’t be moulded from a 2 directional press mould. Even with all the computer aided design technology they have now. If the problematic detail and elements are removed or moved the models don’t meet the standards GW now have for their models. Jes wants GW to purchase better technology to overcome this problem, but the sales projects don’t justify it at the moment.

The indication is they aren’t in line for a codex soon. Phil Kelly has his hand up to doing it, but not until after Imperial Guard…

Other reports suggest the Sisters Codex did get some work done before 6th Edition but the army doesn’t function the way the studio need it to, even with any new units they had in line. So like the Dark Eldar they will have to wait another design cycle or until they are ready…

In short there are no time scales for the Sisters of battle codex, but the nail is not in the coffin yet.
