Sisters of Battle after May?

New rumours have surfaced that Sister’s of Battle will see new models this year. Early rumours had stated Q2. The same source is now saying post May.

From the Ripper Swarms:
1. May looks to be a little too soon, but I didn’t get word of where it’ll fit in exactly, just that May was too soon.
2. There is a format change coming for Sisters. I don’t have details coming but there is a change coming. Granted if they get a real codex that’s a format change, but I have a personal feeling that it may get a change in how they build an army (like how the Necrons build the Decurion).
3. Lastly there was some detail regarding the visual design being more inspired by Blanche. Blanche did the 2nd Ed codex cover:

So the trickle of Sisters rumours continues. While we have herd wolf cried many times before, this is the 1st time we have been getting an ongoing drip feed of rumours. This drip feed is much more consistent with GW’s deliberate leaks; than someone having a power trip all to themselves. We can only hope this is true and not someone dashing everyone’s hopes again.

[Edit Ben] The consensus on most of the chat rooms is this “Q2” is going to be 2016, not 2015, sorry to dash your hopes Jono.

Adeptus Mechanicus pictures sighted!!!

At long last we finally have some pictures of the rumoured Adptus Mechanicus from Games Workshop on darogscompany. The description of a sentential on four legs is spot on. I must say the little Adeptus Mechanicus guy is more impressive though. Go have a look here.

Golden Demon Dreadnoughts and Walkers

I’ve realised we have completely missed out the 40k Dreadnoughts and moved on to squads. So here they are.

IMG_3378-0.JPGFirst up is this fantastic Legion of the Damned Dreadnought conversion. This really is a lovely bit of converting, the dreadnought has been given two power fists each is also armed with a heavy weapon. One has a plasma gun while the other, I assume, is a missile lunchers although it looks more like some kind of hell cannon. I notice there is a flaming bird on the Dreadnoughts knee given a clue to the space marines past. The pose of this Legion of the Damned Dreadnought reminds me of the Hell brute model.

Again this Nurgle Hell Brute is a great conversion. The Hell brute is armed with a Multimelta and power fist. More deadly than the weapons, their appears to be a Greater Demon of Nurgle emerging from it torsos. clearly this hell brute has pleased the master he serves. Off to the warp with you!

This Nurgle Dreadnought appears to be relatively new in it’s service of Chaos. Armed with a Las cannon and a Dreadnought close combat weapon. There are plenty of signs of Nurgle corruption but the form of a Space Marine Mkiv Dreadnought underneath is very clear.

The more conservative Astro Militartarum Imperial Guard Sentinel looks very shore footed in top of the snowy peek. The plasma gun looks ready to fire, or overload.

IMG_3381-0.JPGCraziness of a different kind comes in the form of this Orky Deff Dred. Armed with a melta or scorcher, a big shooter and a very big drill for making “da oils in du umie trucks”. This Ork looks ready to go party big Wargh style.

IMG_3380.JPGFinally the consummate professional Ultramarine Dreadnought ends our look at the Dreadnoughts and walkers from Golden Demon. This Venerable Dreadnought armed with a Plasma Cannon is ready for mass removal of foot solders. If anything bigger makes an appearance the veteran of 100 battles will demonstrate how a Dreadnought Power Fist can cut through the thickest of armour.

Emperors Children Landraider Proteus

Ben has been doing some more work on his Emperors Children Landraider Proteus. Ben originally decided to paint the tank in Codex Grey, This was primarily to allow him to use it in all of his Space Marine armies, both to save on money and time painting, but also to save on storage space in his garage which is overflowing with boxes of Citidle miniatures.

Ben has now implemented stage 2 of his codex grey plan, which is adding removable chapter doors for his Emperors Children. Ben plans to do the same with his Spave Wolves and possible with his Blood Angels and Grey Knights. Ben has taken this plan one stage further and used the front door of the Forgeworld add on as extra armour. Ben had this to say.
“I didn’t think the side doors alone really gave the tank the look of an Emperors Children vehicle. While the front door on the Landraider hull, doesn’t look perfectly suited to the Proteus, it does clearly make it look like an Emperors Children tank and also means a Forgeworld panel isn’t waisted.”

I agree with Ben (and often do) the front plate doesn’t look quite right maybe he should have tried a marine in the top hatch to solidify the Landraider’s chapter allegiance. I do understand his desire not to waist expensive forge world resin though. Maybe some sort of objective marker would have been a better use of the front hatch?

Imperial Fist Legion from Warhammer Fest

One of my favour parts of Warhammer Fest is meeting the Studio and White Dwarf staff, as well as seeing some of there own model collections. Unfortunately I can’t remember who’s army this is, but I do know they feature in the campaign of fire book.

imperial fistThis small Imperial Fist Legion army features a Cataphractii Terminator Squad and a single Tactical squad , mk3 armour shown above.

The breacher squad was the start of this Imperial Fist army, the other half of the tactical squad in MK5 power armour is show here, along with a Mkiv Venerable Dreadnought.

A command squad comprising of the limited edition boarding marine and 2 older games workshop veteran models, leads this army. The contemptor dreadnought armed with twin assault cannons and missle luncher forms a great centre peace to the army.

This army shows what can be achieved on a small budget, if you take you time. Lots of people complain about Game Workshops prices, while having 100s of unpainted models in boxes. There is no component in this army that can’t be bought for under £35. If you chip away at ForgeWorlds lines, painting each item before buying the next, the hobby really isn’t that expensive. Of course the total cost of this army runs in to £100s, but it all started with a 5 man squad for under £30. While Spartan Assault tanks and Storm Eagles look fantastic, it was the little men in power armour that got me in to this hobby. After 20 years of collecting little blue men, it’s still those little highly detailed models that I enjoy seeing the most.
